At the last minute, popular rock band Headroom was invited to Utah to perform after the Ultimate Combat fights in Salt Lake and for the closing weekend of the Sundance Film Festival. With little time for preparation, the group and their Utah promoters banded together and produced two shows in two completley different settings with much success. Venues from popular night clubs, bars and private parties all have expressed intrest in bringing Headroom back to town.

Headroom would technically be classified as a rock band, but with their eclectic mix of both sound and content, their wide demographic appeal is of value to more than just rock venues. This week, the band proved once again that they are capable of performing under pressure while coalescing with widley varied audiences and raising the bar from their previous engagements. A foundation of Arizona fans has been loyal and supportive of the groups initial growth, but promoters and friends have been encouraging the band to expand their reach, moving their shows to include neighboring states. Utah was the first of those states and the reception of the talented foursome has ensured that their growth in the Beehive state will be a catalyst for additional cities in the future.

Ultimate Combat is a popular Utah event with a following of edgy, tough fans. When Headroom took the stage about thirty minutes after the fights, the fans that had chosen to stay and watch instantly came to life, moshing and dancing to the rougher side of Headroom's music. The very next night, performing at Flanagan's on Main the closing weekend of Sundance, the group pulled off an equally pleasing show for a much more refined crowd using their origional music, two incredible solos and a lot of charisma. This group of four unique individuals played music that filled the venue within a couple of songs. they also were invited to play at additional shows by individuals, businesses and promoters from across the US. Although the group is excited about the prospects, a 2010 tour schedule is being put together to make the most of the new opportunities without disrupting the shows that have already been set in motion prior to this eventful weekend.

Those who were at the show have been invited to become a fan at either the MySpace or Facebook sites for Headroom and those who missed out might want to take a little time to go listen to some of their signature songs online and participate in the next circut of shows. Videos and online content will be produced to highlight this key growth stage for the band and fans listed on social networking sites will be invited to participate in the future.

Regardless of the outcome and in light of the reception after their first out of state show, it is safe to assume that Headroom Live is a band to watch for both music lovers and those looking for new opportunities in the music industry. Okay it's practically 2010... everyone has a cell phone, email, and probably at least one social networking site. It has been my experience that many of YOU have these tools but are lousy at best at initiating or reciprocating communication with artisits in your area.

Typically when someone approaches you with a sales pitch you either listen or reply, "no thank you". Well the music business is indeed a BUSINESS so when others approach you for booking inquiries or the like you are welcome to simply reply, "yes" or "no". The NO REPLY option tells people you are either; lazy, forgetful, unreliable, disrespectful, insecure, snotty, or all of the above, all of which does not boad well for you and ultimatly hinders the growth of a MUSIC COMMUNITY in turn denying YOU opportunities that could ultimately flourish for all.

So the next time someone has made 1, 2, 3 or more attempts to communicate with you maybe remember the time you read this blog and show some profesionalism and offer a reply. Simple answers like, "yes" and "no" are easy and only require about .00001 calories to accomplish and will go along way in the BUSINESS.

Phoenix Music Scene

Hello interested peoples... my name is Gavin and I play for and promote my band, Headroom. We are from Phoenix and we are new in the scene as Headroom. All of us have played in various other bads through the years in PHX - but this is the one.

I started this blog to hopefully get my thoughts and feelings clearly expressed to as many people as possible. The dominant theme here is community... working together in numbers to creat a synergy of of immense proportion, enough to honor the name "Phoenix"

Speaking for myself and this is my opinion, Phoenix has got @#$%^& TALENT! Phoenix also has stumbled in coming together. In the past many of us artists have all ran in good clicks in the scene for a while only to have the majority of bands break up... usually because things don't happen fast enough. I have set out to change that.

I am relentlessly pursuing bands and promoters and I am going to light a serious fire under everyone's %^*!!! I want to congradulate - DIGITAL SUMMER - for being so business oriented and proactive in the valley... hey guys thanks for setting such a good example!!

Now I don't want to give them all the credit as they have surrounded themselves with great talent and are sharing the spotlight with others that wish to work together to achieve greatness. We are here to help one another not suffer by ourselves. Now that circle represents a very small percentage of the good talent here... sooooooooooo... I am going to do my part and build another community then the two communities can merge and we can help others form their communities and help them merge and then it crosses state lines. Trust me people - Phoenix is prime real estate for massive attention - WE ONLY NEED TO COME TOGETHER. Help a brother up, promote others and you promote yourself... this is LIFE 101.
